Martin Jakob (1989*) vit et travaille à Neuchâtel. Il développe principalement un travail de sculpture et d’installation qui est directement issu de ses expériences quotidiennes. Il puise dans les matériaux et les situations qu’il a à portée de main. Le geste est un élément primordial dans sa démarche : il est réduit à son essentiel et sert souvent de point de départ à ses productions. Martin Jakob cherche également à impliquer activement les visiteur·euse·s dans ses installations en proposant des supports ; des espaces propices aux interactions sociales et aux échanges.
Il a obtenu un Bachelor en arts visuels à l’école cantonale d’art du Valais (Sierre) en 2012 et un Master en arts visuels à la Hochschule für Gestaltung und Kunst (Bâle) en 2019.
Récemment, il a gagné une résidence de quatre mois à Belgrade proposée par la conférence des villes en matière culturelle (2022-2023). Martin Jakob fait partie de l'équipe curatoriale du CAN Centre d'art Neuchâtel et est co-fondateur de l’espace d’art MÂT à Neuchâtel.

Martin Jakob (1989*) lives and works in Neuchâtel. He mainly develops a work of sculpture and installation that is directly derived from his daily experiences. He draws from the materials and situations he has at hand. Gesture is a key element in his approach: it is reduced to its essential form and often serves as the starting point for his productions. Martin Jakob also seeks to actively involve visitors in his installations by proposing supports ; spaces conducive to social interaction and exchange.
He obtained a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from école cantonale d’art du Valais (Sierre) in 2012 and a Master of Fine Arts degree from the Hochschule für Gestaltung und Kunst (Basel) in 2019.
Recently, he won a four-month residency in Belgrade offered by the Conference of Cities on Culture (2022-2023). Martin Jakob is a member of the curatorial team of the CAN Centre d'art Neuchâtel and co-founder of the art space MÂT in Neuchâtel.
