La camera obscura est un principe reconnu depuis très longtemps, qui démontre la propagation rectiligne de la lumière. Il s'agit d'une chambre noire percée d'un petit trou par lequel passent les rayons lumineux. Sur la surface opposée, une image inversée apparaît, projetant l'espace extérieur à l'intérieur. Ce principe est à la base de la photographie.
Cependant, le processus photographique est plus complexe que la camera obscura ou son dispositif. De nombreux autres facteurs contribuent à l'image finale. Les frontières entre les matériaux utilisés en photographie sont également floues. Par exemple, le papier photographique n'aurait aucun sens sans le processus chimique qui permet à l'image d'apparaître.
Dans mon travail, je me concentre sur le médium de la photographie et ses composants. Je me penche sur les aspects physiques et chimiques du processus photographique. Plutôt que de considérer la photographie uniquement comme un moyen de représentation, je la vois comme un espace de contemplation. J'explore les concepts de matériau, d'appareil et de transformation, et je remets ces concepts en question en puisant dans divers domaines de recherches, approches et perspectives philosophiques. CF
Corinne Futterlieb vit et travaille à Berne. Elle s’intéresse aux phénomènes isolés de la photographie : à l’apparition d’une image à travers des erreurs de laboratoires par des réfractions de la lumière ou des agrandissements. Ce que les pièces de Futterlieb nous montrent, ce sont des échos des principes de la lumière, qui, libérés des récits, deviennent des empreintes métaphoriques du monde visible.
D’abord formée en tant que technicienne de laboratoire photo, Corinne Futterlieb étudie ensuite la photographie à la Zürcher Hochschule der Künste (2009-2011 – ZHdK), avant de suivre un Master in Contemporary Arts Practice à la Hochschule der Künste de Berne (2015-2018 – HKB).
Elle travaille en tant qu'artiste et photographe indépendante et est assistante photographique à la Haute école des arts de Berne.
Futterlieb a été nominée pour le Prix Photoforum 2021, le Ober-Gerwern Masterpreis 2018 et le Swiss Photo Award 2017.

The camera obscura is a principle that has been recognized for a very long time, demonstrating the straight-line propagation of light. It involves a dark room with a small hole through which rays of light pass. On the opposite wall, an upside-down image appears, projecting the outside space onto the inside. This principle serves as the foundation for photography.
However, the photographic process is more complex than just the camera obscura or the photographic apparatus alone. Numerous other factors contribute to the final image. The boundaries between materials involved in photography are also blurred. For instance, photographic paper would be meaningless without the chemistry that allows the image to appear.
In my work, I focus on the medium of photography and its components. I delve into the physical and chemical aspects of the photographic process. Rather than considering photography solely as a means of representation, I view it as a space for contemplation. I explore the concepts of material, apparatus, and transformation, and I challenge these concepts by drawing from diverse fields of knowledge, various approaches, and philosophical perspectives. CF
Corinne Futterlieb lives and works in Bern. She is interested in isolated phenomena of photography: the appearance of an image through laboratory errors, through refractions of light or enlargements. What Futterlieb's pieces show us are echoes of the principles of light, which, freed from narratives, become metaphorical imprints of the visible world.
Originally trained as a photo lab technician, Corinne Futterlieb went on to study photography at the Zürcher Hochschule der Künste (2009-2011 - ZHdK), before completing a Master in Contemporary Arts Practice at the Hochschule der Künste in Bern (2015-2018 - HKB).
She works as a freelance artist and photographer, and is a photography assistant at the Bern University of the Arts.
Futterlieb has been nominated for the Prix Photoforum 2021, the Ober-Gerwern Masterpreis 2018 and the Swiss Photo Award 2017.
